This past week's meetings included further discussion and refinement of the site plans with our civil engineer, construction schedule with our construction management (Summit/Resource International) firm, and the conceptual floor plan of the building.
The site plans have the bus drop off in the front of the buildings and the parent drop off on the rear. This configuration is best to allow for parents vehicles to line up during pick up and drop off times. At Ewing, the buses will enter the building from Sheridan Drive and parents from the cul de sac at the north end of the property, toward Rainbow Drive. At Sherman, the entrances will be from the road connecting Columbus Street and Greencrest Way.
Concerning the construction schedule, Summit/Resource International is hoping to begin the site work on both sites early. For Ewing, they hope to begin site work this fall. For Sherman, they hope to begin site work in the spring of 2018.
The conceptual floor plan for the building, called the schematic design, is nearing completion. Some adjustments were made to provide better access to areas in the common section of the building.
