Career Preparation

Planning for your future career can be a challenging task while in high school. Your career search needs to start by learning about yourself (likes, dislikes, strengths, and weaknesses). The best way to do this in high school is to try different classes and job shadow. If you are interested in a field that we offer in our Career Tech Programs, this is the time to talk with a counselor about joining a program. Use the information below and resources to start your career search!
 
LHS Programs
 
Small Groups/Individual Counseling ~ Counselors work with students on study skills, time management, and career planning.

Classroom Guidance ~ A strong focus during students sophomore until senior year on career planning and transitions into life after high school.

Classes Related to Career Searching
 
Freshman Focus ~ Freshmen are able to explore how to best plan for their future starting their freshman year. During the course students will make a 10 year plan based on their interests and skills.

Exploring Careers ~ open to grades 10-12 ~ Students will have an opportunity to discover and investigate individual career related interests, strengths and topics related to future work choices.
