District Rumor Response

District Rumor Response

Our School District has been dealing with a rumor of violence tomorrow at Lancaster High School. Administrators and law enforcement officers have interviewed students involved in sharing this rumor and have not found any credible information to substantiate the rumor. Students are stating they simply heard that a school shooting will occur Friday, but have no further details. At this time we cannot confirm that there is any credible threat of violence at Lancaster High School or any other school.
Safety of our students and staff in the Lancaster City Schools is a top priority and we will continue to investigate this rumor or any other information we receive. As a precautionary measure, we have been in communication with the Fairfield Co. Sheriff’s Department and the Lancaster Police Department to increase security measures for today and tomorrow in order to insure the safety of our students and staff.
Lancaster City Schools is not alone in responding to threats of school violence this week. News media throughout central Ohio and the country are reporting that school districts are responding to rumors of violence. Regardless, we take every threat and rumor seriously with an investigation to determine appropriate action.
