Welcome to East Elementary School, where we are committed to providing a quality education that prepares all children for a successful future. My name is Janie Vazquez, and I am honored to be the new principal of East Elementary.
East is one of eight elementary schools in the Lancaster City School District and home to approximately 400 kindergarten through fifth grade students. East Elementary is a true community building with over 90% of our student population within walking distance of the building. The East Elementary playground serves as a gathering place for students and families to visit after school and during the summer months.
Like all of Lancaster’s elementary schools, East Elementary, provides students with a well-rounded education that acknowledges the whole child. We are excited about identifying and implementing the best educational practices so that each child is given the opportunity to achieve at an optimal level. Much time and effort has been devoted to making this 2012-2013 school year a very meaningful one for all the students and families at East.
An essential factor contributing to the success in the classroom is the tireless support we receive from our parents. From participating in the PTO to overseeing the successful completion of a homework assignment, East parents certainly earn an “Excellent” rating!
One critical area where our East parents can make a difference is in reinforcing and promoting our school rules:
1. Respect yourself, others and your school.
2. Conduct yourself in a way that will not keep adults from teaching and you and others from learning.
These rules are emphasized daily through authentic lessons and exemplified by the student’s actions. Communication among all stakeholders is another key to East’s success. I encourage and invite your questions or concerns throughout the school year; please do not hesitate to contact me.
I am thrilled to be able to serve this East community as principal and look forward to working to make this school year the best one ever.
Sincerely,
Janie Vazquez
