February Principal's Message

February is here at Lancaster High School and we are into the second semester meaning the end is still a bit away but in sight. There are a lot of exciting events happening here during this month. We will be having semester class meetings in the auditorium on the following days and periods to recalibrate what we need to do to finish the second half of the school year on a positive note. Freshmen will meet 1st period and sophomores 2nd period on Monday the 6th. Juniors will meet 1st period and seniors 2nd period on Tuesday the 7th. In the senior meeting we will start setting the stage for all you need to do to be ready for graduation, so make sure you plan to be on campus.

Cominghome dance is Saturday the 11th from 7:30-10:00 in the LHS cafeteria. Tickets went on sale this week for $5.00 and will be on sale next week Monday through Thursday for $6.00. There will be no tickets sold on Friday the day before the dance. Students with excessive absences, days of suspension, or failing grades are not eligible to attend. Guest approval dance forms must be filled out and turned into the office by Thursday the 9th.

Comninghome dance means our winter Pep Rally and the second leg of the Gale Revolution. We will be on a 2 hour delay bell schedule on Friday the 10th for the Pep Rally. We will be recognizing our Cominghome court, senior winter athletes, and senior career tech programs. The staff is looking to take the lead in the Gale Revolution heading into the spring. Let's hope all the classes are up for the challenge.

All juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday the 28th. That means that students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will have a remote learning day. Juniors will report to school at normal time and report to their testing locations that will be communicated via email and posted throughout the building.

We will be on Activity Period bell schedule on Tuesdays the 7th, 14th, and 21st. The 14th will be for our Valentine's Day Social.

Winter concerts are also on the calendar this month. The band concert is Thursday the 16th at 7:30 and the choir concert is on Monday the 27th also at 7:30. Come on out and support our students in our musical departments and their performances.

Finally it is postseason time for winter athletic teams as well as Senior Nights. Swimming senior night is Friday the 3rd, girls basketball is Tuesday the 7th, boys basketball is Tuesday the 14th, and wrestling is Friday the 17th. Come on out and support our teams as they enter the postseason and watch our senior athletes compete for the last time as Gales. I would also like to congratulate our boys swimming team as they captured their 3rd straight OCC Championship.

Enjoy the cold weather this month as spring will be here before you know it on #granvillepike.
